Clean up after Fire Damage

Cleaning / restoration of electrical units after a fire damage.

In case of accidental release of hydrogen chloride HCI ( as a gas )

this is mostly cast over the complete surfaces of the units.

If the contamination of chlorides is higher than 10  µGr./cm² it has

to be removed immediately. This is to be done by means of

water - based cleaning only.

The result must be the complete removal of the harmful substances.

Important :

Short reaction time - correct procedure - good result.

Generally smut condensates are electrically conductive in combnation with

air humidity. The results are faults occuring with electical and especially electrotechnical devices. Today's electronic components with SMD technic

have very small isolation distances so that even small smut particels cause

failures of the units

In case of burning hydrogen chloride  ( HCI ) is released with the consequence of extensive corrosion damage.

The corrosion as a result of a quantum of contamination may occur with a

certain time offset and not be realized at once. the longer the restoration actions are neglected and delayed the higher will be the complexity of the cleaning and costs for the restoration of the unit

First steps after the incidence of fire:

  • Access to the rooms / building must be organized as there might be accidental realese of toxic elements.
  • First measures to be initiated by experts only
  1. Keep rooms / buildings closed ; reduce air humidity to approx. 25 - 40 rel. H.
  2. Remove loose smut particles by means of special vacuum cleaners with filter grade H
  • After these steps the ordinary restoration of the electrotechnical components can be started.
